There are a lot of people that hate on fangirls/fanboys, but I think that might be because they’re afraid of them. Perhaps they don’t know what it feels like to derive so much pleasure from a musician or video game series or anything else for that matter. Sure, everyone has their favourite things, but there are many people who take it to a level of devotion that could be called “fandom” and I think the people that don’t feel that passion for things in the same way will hate out of the fear of what they don’t understand.

Yes we (I’m talking about myself too as a fangirl right here) talk about them all the time because THEY MAKE US HAPPY. Sure the world is multi-faceted, as are its people, but there must be a reason that some of us get so stuck on one particular thing, or in my case, a handful of things. I’m not really sure how that would offend anyone. I have never shoved GACKT down anyones throat, and I’ve never done much more than strongly recommend people pick up Uncharted if they’ve not tried it before.

I feel bad for people that are lost in a world of wonderful objects that they never have anything more than a mediocre response for, especially when that shows up as trends. Batman film comes out; everyone LOVES Batman. Couple years down the line, none of those people are even reading the comics. There’s nothing wrong with being a moderate fan, but hating and dragging down fans that have stuck steadfast to the Dark Knight is just mean.

In conclusion, don’t hate the fangirls and fanboys of the world. Embrace their ways and learn to love on a whole new (obsessive) level, and you might just find out how much HAPPIER you might become as a person. :)
